The birth of Mujahid-e-Azam, Salar-e-Hind, Hazrat Salar Masud Ghazi (Radiyallahu Ta’ala Anhu), took place according to the Gregorian calendar on 10 February 1014 CE in Ajmer Sharif.
His father’s name was Sayyid Sahu Salar Ghazi, and his mother’s name was Satra-e-Mu’alla. On his father’s side, he belonged to the Alawi Sayyids, meaning that he was a descendant of the Banu Hashim family.
Hazrat Salar Masud Ghazi was also a disciple and Khalifa of Huzoor Sayyiduna Shaikh Badiuddin Zinda Shah Madar. According to historical books, he was born through the blessed supplication of Huzoor Madar-e-Pak (Radiyallahu Anhu).
Before the birth of Hazrat Salar Masud Ghazi, many distinguished personalities had conveyed the glad tidings of his arrival to his revered father, Hazrat Sahu Salar Ghazi. When Hazrat Sahu Salar Ghazi came to Ajmer to assist Muzaffar Khan, he also met Hazrat Sayyiduna Qutbul Madar (Radiyallahu Anhu). Huzoor Madar-e-Pak gave Sahu Salar the glad tidings of the birth of a son named Masud Salar.
It is written in the book Mirat-e-Masudi:
“A person from among the companions of Salar Sahu came and submitted that a God-fearing faqir was sitting beneath a tree on the mountain. He was sincerely enquiring about your circumstances. My advice is that you should meet him immediately. Salar Sahu went to the service of the faqir with great sincerity and eagerness. Immediately, the faqir said, ‘Come, O father of Salar Masud!’ Salar Sahu stood up, offered his respects, and sat down. The faqir then said, ‘On this journey, you will receive two blessings: one, victory over the disbelievers, and the other, a noble son.’”
In other words, Allah would bless him with a son.
Respected audience! The faqir who gave Sahu Salar the glad tidings of the birth of Masud Ghazi in this narration was none other than Huzoor Madar-e-Pak (Radiyallahu Ta’ala Anhu).
Look at the book Zulfiqar-e-Badi. It states, with reference to Mulla Mahmud’s book Tawarikh-e-Mahmudi:
“When Sahu Salar reached near Ajmer to assist Muzaffar Khan Ajmeri, he pitched his tent beside a pond and received spiritual blessings from a great dervish. That dervish was Hazrat Sayyid Badiuddin Qutbul Madar, who, with his blessed tongue, gave the glad tidings of the birth of Salar Masud Ghazi.”
Respected audience, now look at this treatise. Its name is Jam-e-Noor. The same account is also mentioned in it.
Sayyid Sikandar Deewana says:
“I obtained permission from Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi and accompanied Hazrat Sayyid Sahu Salar Ghazi to Ajmer via Thatthar. On the way, we met Hazrat Qutbul Madar Zinda Shah Madar. As soon as he looked at Sayyid Salar Sahu Ghazi, he immediately said, ‘O father of Sayyid Salar Masud Ghazi, come here!’ Upon hearing this, I was astonished at what Zinda Shah Madar was saying.”
(This astonishment arose because Masud Ghazi had not yet been born.)
Now look at another book, entitled Tazkira Mashaikh-e-Madariya. Its author, Janab Mufti Muhammad Hashim Ali Misbahi, has written the following with reference to Janab Mahmud Raza Sahib’s book Azmat-e-Sarkar Masud Ghazi:
“When the Islamic army, consisting of the great warriors and Mujahideen of that era, reached Ajmer Sharif via Thatthar with great grandeur and glory under the leadership of Hazrat Sayyid Salar Sahu Ghazi, the supreme commander, Salar Sahu met Huzoor Sayyiduna Sayyid Badiuddin Zinda Shah Madar. As soon as he looked at Hazrat Salar Sahu Ghazi, he immediately said, ‘O father of Salar Masud Ghazi, come here!’ Upon hearing this, he was greatly astonished at what Zinda Shah Madar was saying.”
(This astonishment arose because Masud Ghazi had not yet been born.)
Respected audience! Acharya Chatur Sen has also mentioned this meeting between Huzoor Madar-e-Pak and Sahu Salar in his book Somnath. You may also look at that book and read it for yourselves.
In another book, entitled Tazkira Auliya-e-Hind, its author, Mahbubul Ulama Hazrat Sayyid Salim Alawi Sahib, has also written on page 159:
“Through the supplications of Madar-e-Pak, our revered ancestor, Sayyid Salar Masud Ghazi (the nephew of Sayyid Saifuddin Surkh Ghazi, Alaihirrahma), was born.”
Now consider another book, entitled Tazkira Tajdar-e-Bahraich. Its author, Sayyid Sulaiman Baba Alawi, has also mentioned this meeting on page 128 of his book. In other words, Huzoor Madar-e-Pak had said to Salar Masud Ghazi’s father, Sahu Salar:
“Do not consider this child insignificant. He is a born Wali. When he reaches maturity, he will erase the signs of disbelief and polytheism.”
Now, kindly examine another book entitled Karamat-e-Masudia. Pages 25, 26, and 27 of this book clarify that Huzoor Salar Masud Ghazi was born through the supplications of Huzoor Madar-e-Pak and was also a disciple and Khalifa of Huzoor Madar-e-Pak.
Finally, we are also presenting the Madariya spiritual lineage (Shajra-e-Madariya) of Hazrat Salar Masud Ghazi, with reference to Tazkira Mashaikh-e-Madariya. This lineage was recorded by Shaikh Alauddin Alawi in his book Kanz-us-Salasil.
“Huzoor Muhammad Mustafa (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam),
His Khalifa is Hazrat Ali (Karramallahu Wajhahu al-Karim), His Khalifa is Hazrat Abdullah Alam Bardar, His Khalifa is Hazrat Ainuddin Shami, His Khalifa is Hazrat Shaikh Taifur Shami, His Khalifa is Hazrat Sayyid Badiuddin Halabi Qutbul Madar, And his disciple and Khalifa is Hazrat Salar Masud Ghazi (Rahmatullahi Ta’ala Alaih).”
