1 Shawwal 242 AH – Corresponding to 31 January 857 AD

The year was 857 AD corresponding to 242 AH. It was the blessed time of Ramadan, filled with divine light. The rain of mercy and blessings was showering upon all the people of Aleppo, rather all the people of Syria, rather the entire world.
Everywhere people were engaged in the worship of Allah.
Just as the land of Aleppo was illuminated with the نور (light) of Ramadan, in the skies of this great Syrian city Aleppo, a white bird would fly and call out:

“O people, fear Allah, Allah, Allah.”

This call was not for one day, two days, or three days, but for the entire month. In one narration it is mentioned that for forty days a white bird would fly and raise this same call and then disappear.

People watched this bird with great amazement and listened to its call, but they kept wondering what this matter was.

Because the land of Syria is a land of great virtue, whose excellence was described by the Mercy of both worlds, the Distributor of Allah’s blessings, the Best of Prophets, the Leader of Messengers, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with his blessed tongue.
He said:

“Allah has chosen Syria from His lands, and among its people are His chosen servants. And a group from my Ummah will enter Paradise without reckoning and without punishment.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (RA) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Among Allah’s lands, Syria is His chosen land, and among its people are Allah’s chosen servants. And there is a group from my Ummah who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment.

In addition, the Prophet (peace be upon him) also said:

“Good news for Syria, for the angels of the Most Merciful have spread their wings over it.”

Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (RA) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Good news for Syria, the angels of the Most Merciful have spread their wings over it.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also mentioned the presence of Abdal in Syria, which was explained by the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Ali (RA) as follows:

It is narrated from Shuraih bin Ubaid that the people of Syria were mentioned in the presence of Sayyiduna Ali (RA), and someone said, “O Commander of the Faithful, curse the people of Syria.”
Sayyiduna Ali said, “No, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
The Abdal will be in Syria and they are forty men. Whenever one of them dies, Allah replaces him with another. Through their blessings rain is sent, through them victory over enemies is granted, and through them punishment is removed from the people of Syria.” (Mishkat)

In another Hadith, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that the number of the righteous people of my Ummah is 500 and the Abdal are 40. Neither the 500 decrease nor the 40 decrease. Whenever one of the Abdal dies, Allah appoints someone from the 500 righteous people in his place.
The companions asked about their deeds. The Prophet said:
They forgive those who oppress them, they treat well those who treat them badly, and whatever Allah gives them, they use it to help the poor and needy.

Thus, the people of Syria kept hearing the call of the bird and discussing among themselves what this matter could be.

Finally, the day came — 1 January 857 AD corresponding to 1 Shawwal 242 AH, the day when the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr appeared. On that very day, in the house of the Judge of Aleppo, descendant of the Prophet, pride of sainthood, Sayyiduna Qazi Syed Qudwatuddin Ali Halabi (RA), another moon appeared — a noble son was born.

This child was born giving testimony to the Lordship of his Lord and affirming the Prophethood of his Prophet. When he was born, he recited the declaration of faith and prostrated before Allah.

As soon as he was born, the house of Ali Halabi was filled with divine light. Creatures of light came to congratulate the birth of this newborn.
It is even narrated that the Leader of Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came with his companions to the house of Qazi Qudwatuddin Ali Halabi and congratulated him on the birth of this child and said:

“O Ali Halabi, this son of yours is a blessed eternal saint. He will attain great ranks among the saints. Name this child Ahmad Badiuddin. He will fill the world with the light of guidance and remove the darkness of disbelief and polytheism and illuminate the world with the light of faith and Islam.”

Thus, Sayyiduna Ali Halabi (RA) named the child Ahmad, and his title was Badiuddin.

And in the world he became famous by the titles:
Qutb-ul-Madar, Zinda Shah Madar, Zindan Suf, Madar-e-Jahan, Madar-e-Do Jahan, Madar-ul-Alameen.

May Allah grant us all blessings from Qutb-ul-Madar and grant us his spiritual blessings on the occasion of his blessed birth. Ameen.

I congratulate the entire Muslim world on the birth of the King of Saints, Qutb-ul-Wahdat, Qutb-ul-Aqtab, Fard-ul-Afrad, Qutb-ul-Irshad, bearer of the station of Samadiyat, one who reached the station of Divine closeness,
Hazrat Syed Ahmad Badiuddin Qutb-ul-Madar (RA).
