1st Shawwal al-Mukarram (On the day of Eid)
A special presentation on the joyous occasion of the birth of Qutb Madar
The most beautiful region of the world (a masterpiece of nature), adorned with lofty mountain peaks, playful flowing rivers, enchanting landscapes, and breathtaking waterfalls, and spread across the ups and downs of the earth—across continents, the subcontinent, Europe, Asia, Arab and non-Arab lands—among nearly two hundred countries, countless villages and towns, under the shade of tall and dense trees, lies a paradise-like small town: Chunar. So charming, so beautiful, as if the Creator of the universe has written all elegance into its destiny. In the lap of Chunar, it is as if there is a procession of stars, the vermilion of the galaxy in its parting, dense trees like the tresses of night, and the beauty and colors of flowers—SubhanAllah!
The gentle fragrance of the garden of Madinah perfumed even the thorns. The reflection of the pure land spread beauty and splendor everywhere. Moreover, the announcement of Eid morning was echoing in the settlements of believers, the reverberation of which cracked the strong fortresses of disbelief and atheism. Illuminated by the reflection of Madinah, the town of Chunar shone so brightly that it resembled the night of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ. The blessed month of Ramadan was bidding farewell, and the appearance of the Eid moon in the horizons filled believers with freshness, light in their eyes, and joy in their hearts. Among the chosen servants of Allah, there was immense delight, happiness, and celebration, reflecting the wonders of divine sainthood.
As was customary, Imam al-Asfiya, the chosen of the Divine, Sayyid al-Taifa, the comfort of the pious, the crown of the righteous, Qutb al-Aqtab, Hazrat Sayyid Ali Halabi, beloved of Zahra, a Hasani-Husayni Ja’fari, performed the Isha prayer and engaged in his spiritual practices. While in deep meditation, he fell asleep. In that blessed state, the destinies of both worlds were being bestowed upon him. The Master of the universe, the pride of all Prophets, Sayyid al-Alamin ﷺ, along with the four companions, appeared and said:
“O Ali! Be proud of your destiny. Today I give you glad tidings of a blessed son, who will be an eternal saint and my spiritual son. Name him Ahmad.”
After conveying this great glad tidings, the Prophet ﷺ departed, and Hazrat Qazi Qudwatuddin Ali Halabi awoke.
Blessed Birth
Qazi Sayyid Qudwatuddin Ali Halabi saw as if stars were descending in groups, kissing his house, and then returning. This continued throughout the night. He performed Tahajjud prayer, and a heavenly voice called out three times:
“O Ali Halabi! Be proud of your blessed destiny.”
Then the call of “Allahu Akbar” echoed, breaking the walls of darkness.
At that very moment, a personality appeared who captured the hearts of all. A being whose arrival illuminated the gatherings of the world and the assemblies of the faithful. Such a mysterious presence that both distant and close observers were astonished, unable to comprehend who he was—even the knowers of truth could not fully grasp him.
That is: the leader of saints, the chosen of the Divine, the guide of the purified, the falcon of the sky of sainthood and miracles, the rider of generosity and contentment, the guide of Shariah, the cupbearer of the path, the teacher of divine secrets, the knower of hidden truths, the diver into the ocean of gnosis, the embodiment of Prophetic character, the inheritor of the qualities of Ali, the guide of religion, the Qibla of certainty, the king of saints, the emperor of sainthood, the pole of unity, the possessor of divine مقام, the sun of the heavens—
Hazrat Sayyid Badiuddin Sheikh Ahmad Madar al-Alamin (R.A.)
When he stretched his blessed feet into his mother’s lap, all the pleasures of the world stood at his door seeking charity.
Maternal Lineage
His mother, Sayyida Fatima Saniyah (also known as Fatima Tabrizi), daughter of Sayyid Abdullah… (lineage continues) …tracing back to Hazrat Imam Hasan, son of Hazrat Ali (R.A.).
Miracles at Birth
When he was born, the entire house lit up with the radiance of his blessed face. Hazrat Idris Halabi narrates that at the time of his birth, the soul of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ along with his companions appeared and congratulated his parents, and a heavenly voice proclaimed:
“This is the friend of Allah! This is the friend of Allah!”
Thus, he was declared an eternal saint.
Education and Training
At the age of four years, four months, and four days, he was taken for Bismillah ceremony to Hazrat Huzaifa Mar’ashi. When asked to read “Alif,” he instead explained its meaning continuously for a week. His teacher exclaimed:
“This is the friend of Allah!”
By the age of 14, he had mastered all religious and intellectual sciences and memorized all divine scriptures including Torah, Psalms, and Gospel.
Bay‘ah and Spiritual Caliphate
After completing outward knowledge, he set out for inner knowledge and traveled towards Makkah and Madinah. On the way, a divine voice directed him to Bayt al-Maqdis, where Hazrat Bayazid Bistami awaited him.
Upon reaching Masjid al-Aqsa, he was welcomed and told: “O Badiuddin! Before your arrival, I used to see a pillar of نور here. Now I realize—it was you.”
He embraced him and unveiled the secrets of divine knowledge.
